In this class you will learn what types of foods are in a healthy diet including lean or plant-based protein (beans and nuts), whole-grains, fruits, vegetables and how balancing your portions can help you reach and keep a healthy weight. In addition, you’ll learn how to read nutrition facts labels, simple steps to create healthy meals, and how your sleep patterns affect your weight. You will have the opportunity to learn and prepare meals that aim to help you reach a healthy weight under the leadership of our registered dietitian in GBUAHN’s state of the art kitchen.

Smoking Cessation

In this class you will learn how healthy eating patterns such as not skipping meals and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables can help support you in reducing or quitting smoking. You’ll learn what types of healthy snacks you can use to substitute for cigarette breaks. Our registered dietitian will provide you with tools to help you take next steps in quitting smoking. You will have the opportunity to learn and prepare meals that help support in quitting smoking under the leadership of our registered dietitian in GBUAHN’s state of the art kitchen.

Diabetes Management

In this class you will learn which foods raise, lower, and control your blood sugar. You will learn how increasing non-starchy vegetables such as greens, cucumbers, and okra and making sure to eat protein such as beans and lean meat can help to improve your diabetes. Our registered dietitian will help you figure out how to re-work the meals you currently eat to help you improve your blood sugar and your A1C numbers. You will have the opportunity to learn and prepare meals that aim to lower and improve A1C numbers under the leadership of our registered dietitian in GBUAHN’s state of the art kitchen.

Stress Management

In this class you will be able to share and discuss typical stressors and how you cope with them. Our registered dietitian will guide you in mindfulness stress reduction techniques that you can use on your own to help manage your stress levels. You will leave the class with tools to help you better manage your stress. You’ll learn how eating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy protein such as fish and nuts can help manage your stress levels. You will have the opportunity to learn and prepare meals that aim to reduce stress under the leadership of our registered dietitian in GBUAHN’s state of the art kitchen.

Alcohol Management

In this class you will learn about the risks of excessive alcohol consumption. Our registered dietitian will educate you on how healthy eating such as including plenty of fruits, vegetables, protein and whole grains can help support you in reducing or quitting drinking. You will leave the class with tools to manage your alcohol intake. You will have the opportunity to learn and prepare meals that aim to support you in reducing or quitting drinking under the leadership of our registered dietitian in GBUAHN’s state of the art kitchen.

Depression/Healthy Mind Management

In this class our registered dietitian will share the healthy eating patterns that can help improve your mind and emotional balance. You will learn how increasing all types of fruits and vegetables, cooking with healthy oils such as olive and canola, and including fish or seafood twice per week can help improve your mood. You will leave the class with tools to help you improve your mind and manage feelings of depression. You will have the opportunity to learn and prepare meals that aim to improve your emotional balance under the leadership of our registered dietitian in GBUAHN’s state of the art kitchen.
